The Wooster Whales is a competitive swim team located in Wooster, Ohio. The mission of our team is to provide
the opportunity for each athlete to attain his or
her maximum individual potential as a part of a team in the sport of
competitive swimming. The winter swim team program is run through
the Wooster YMCA, while the summer swim team program is run by the
Wooster City Parks and Recreation Department.
Directions to all away meets are posted here or will be available at the pool.
While our winter team is primarily affiliated with YMCA of Wooster, we are also a USA Swimming afffiliated club (WYRS). Swimmers interested in swimming in USA Swimming sanctioned meets need to be registered with USA Swimming (registration forms available here). Note: If you registered with USA swimming during the summer season in order to swim in the 2008 Freedlander meet, you received a seasonal registration, which is valid only for 150 days from the date of registration; as a result, your registration will expire somewhere around December 1, 2008. If you intend to swim USA Swimming meets this winter, you will need to re-register. Please contact a board member if you have any questions.
USA Swimming meets in our area are scheduled by Lake Erie Swimming. Click here for the 2008-2009 short course schedule. Entries are submitted through the meet entry person to the hosting team. In certain cases the Wooster Swim Club subsidizes entries for USA swimming meets. Please check the bulletin board at the YMCA natatorium for information or email a board member if you have interest in organizing a team entry in a particular meet.
